The Manitoba Model Soldier Society DBA tournament uses the following balance provision:
Each player rolls a die and adds to that the number of Aux and Ps in his army. If you beat your opponent, you can add one extra piece of rough going (if you want) in addition to what is already on the board. If you double your opponent, you can add up to two extra pieces of rough going.
These terrain pieces are provided by the tournament organizers so that nobody can place the entire Teutoburgher Wald on the board. This rule tends to make armies with light infantry more formidable, especially against mounted enemies.
